I noticed today that while a long USD/HKD trade only pays $1.53 per 100k per day in interest, it's been either flat or going up for the last 10 years, except for a few spikes. At 100:1 leverage, it works out to 49% APY, or at 50:1 it's 29%,ignoring any change in price. (Spreadsheet is attached.)
