What to build

1. Indicator plots HH / HL / LH / LL
   1. Why: I want clean market structure on the chart.

How to detect swings (use Close only)

1. Use Simple Moving Average period 1 (SMA-1) = the Close price line
   1. Why: I want no wicks, only closes.

2. Swing Low (“V”): one bearish candle closes, then one bullish candle closes → mark the turning point at the close (middle of the two is fine; coder can use the lower of the two closes).
   1. Why: this is a clear “V” on a line chart.

3. Swing High (“Λ”): one bullish candle closes, then one bearish candle closes → mark the turning point at the close (use the higher of the two closes).
   1. Why: this is a clear peak on a line chart.

4. Confirm after the second candle closes (no repaint after that).
   1. Why: I need stable marks.

How to label structure

1. Keep the last confirmed swing high and swing low.
2. When a new swing high forms:
   1. If its close > previous swing high close → label HH (Higher High).
   2. If its close < previous swing high close → label LH (Lower High).

3. When a new swing low forms:
   1. If its close > previous swing low close → label HL (Higher Low).
   2. If its close < previous swing low close → label LL (Lower Low).

4. Put the text label at the bar of the swing (above highs, below lows).
   1. Why: easy to read.

Button on chart

1. Button: “Show Structure” (toggle)
   1. ON: show swings, labels, and lines.
   2. OFF: hide everything from this indicator.
   3. Why: I want quick on/off.

Visuals

1. Small dots or arrows at each swing.
2. Thin line connecting swings (optional but helpful).
3. Simple colors I can change in Inputs:
   1. Swing High mark, Swing Low mark, HH/HL/LH/LL text, line color, text size.

Inputs (adjustable)

1. Lookback bars to draw (e.g., last 500 bars).
   1. Why: keep chart light.

2. Text size.
   1. Why: match my screen.

3. Colors for highs, lows, labels, and lines.
   1. Why: visibility.

4. Option to show connecting line (true/false).
   1. Why: cleaner view if I want.

Rules / Notes

1. Work only on the current chart and timeframe.
2. No wicks used anywhere. Close price only (SMA-1).
3. No repaint after confirmation (after second candle closes).
4. If two swings are equal (same close), treat the new one as not higher and not lower (leave label as previous type or skip labeling—coder can choose but keep it consistent).
   1. Why: avoid noise.

I do have a sample here but it plots even the wicks as a structure, also the fractal is juts one shape, maybe if we can add an option to make it into any shape, or a circle perhaps... for the HL-HH-LL-LH for this indicator all good, but the flaw is that it plots structure on wicks....

This just provides HL lines extending to the live candle, of a target candle or the range from the target candle. The target candle is on the current chart and located by index or dragging the vline about.

with more additional features like SL & TP with ratio - 240 may look better than M60 mtf input

Btw. You forgot the button to switch the indi on/off

He also forgot to ChartRedraw(0) OnDeinit().
And he is using a very poor method of deleting the objects OnDeinit().
Good thing there aren't many objects!

One of the reasons I don't like to convert to MQL5 are the timeframes.
There are 9 tfs in MT4 and 21 tfs in MT5.
If anyone only used the 9 from MT4, they have not converted the indicator fully.
Also, the integers for tfs in MQL4 repesent the number of minutes in the tf.
In MQL5 this doesn't work like that.
