Gold has finally closed below the psychological $4,000 level on the 4H timeframe, indicating that sellers are regaining control after several failed attempts to reclaim higher prices. Technically, this shifts the short-term structure back to bearish, but today's U.S. CPI release is likely to determine whether this breakdown is genuine or simply a liquidity sweep before another move higher.
Technical Overview
The breakdown below $4,000 is the first sign that bearish momentum is returning. However, price is currently sitting above a key Order Block/Demand zone around $3,971, which could provide temporary buying pressure before the next leg lower.
