Some thoughts on today.
ECB is expecting to cut rate, which definitely will be so, and that support USD strength. So the press conference will be the main focus.
US retail sales and Claims have high chance beating the forecast due to Helena and Milton hurricane, so more support to USD strength.
But we're in situation that both Gold and USD have high demand, then the best strategy is to wait after the news and volatility to settle down, just like yesterday buying chance came in later US session
PS: Look at PA from yesterday up to now, I can say no favors to bears, but bulls are taking cautious. If we don't have any open positions then better keep it that way

Could it be today also U claims data take over retail sales?
With FED focus clearly shift towards maintaining employment.
Or is it just Employment data outweigh Inflation data, as Retail sales is more GDP focus than inflation
Reaction to data today will tell the probability for the upcoming price, and employment data, what the market markers are eyeing.
More time in the market, does not mean you trade better!

Gold has crossed its all-time high of 2686 and is gradually stabilizing, making a move above 2700. If break above 2700 next target will be 2750.

RSI showing overbought and MACD is showing bullish momentum. However, strong trend market... RSI can stay overbought for some time.

Entering long @2660 will be a better risk-ratio.

Or it could be the last fake push before the fall, who knows!
