You can probably get 80% of the results by limiting new entries to only NY session hours, and trading a small set of names that have no or low direct correlation to each other. That will make the system easier to trade.

In my backtests I found the lower in time frame you go, the greater the impact of trading costs relative to the gross profits, that may not be offset by higher trade frequency. 15m generated better numbers than 5m and 1h backtests.
