Interesting discussion. I used to do news trading and the principle is similar. Is there anyway that a retail trader can get involved in this, or is it just millions of pounds in tech and tech brains to get to the table?

On fxcm website: image Dont PAY any broker who wants losses. They cant legally get your money. Also, if you have a credit card on file with them, cancel it with your bank, before they try and take it from that.

We have german cpi coming out in 20mins. Any idea what a bad number (-0.3) or a good number (+0.2) will do to the dax? I'm thinking good is dax negative, bad is dax positive?

It seems Forex.com are judge/jury/executioner on this. What they should do is cancel all trades (brokerage-wide) which occurred during that outage. But let me see... I bet they cancelled all profitable ones (like this client) and let the clients ...

Ultimately, to avoid brokers lagging, stealing your profits, the only way is to trade forex futures. I just dont buy the ECN stuff either, maybe a few accounts are ECN but most are market made. Even LMAX dont let you trade news. Look at most terms ...

Interesting thread. I wouldnt bother with the FSA. I would just see a lawyer and see if you can sue for the profits and damages on top. Otherwise you will waste months. I would include a letter to the FSA anyway. Hope you win.
