I haven't been on FF in a long while... Nice Thread!

Nice thread. I am trying to determine how you select the momentum candle upon which you decide to enter a trade. From what I can tell, it appears to be large impulse candles and candles with a rejection off a very recent consolidation at a high or ...

Gold can be impacted by 3 NY session opens... the NY forex open; the Comex open; and the NYSE open. With no red news and no meaningful price action on the 8 am ESTcandle, the NYSE open is the one to watch... if you go to the 30-minute chart you will ...

OK, where do you place your stop loss?

Using your description I would now place a buy limit at around the 1.0761 level.... do you agree?
- pakeha replied May 19, 2023
ok, I get it… however, the description you use… need to see a “significant” takeoff and a continuation of it for “some time” means it is discretionary… in other words, the determination of what is “significant” and “some time” will differ among ...

ok, I understand the pattern(s) you have drawn. The interpretation of whether a level is formed at the lower low (in your diagram) appears to be the magnitude of the retracement, or as you call it “the take off”. My question remains… is the ...

nadi-fx. Ok. Is the selection of a level (e.g in the case a LL) a discretionary decision or are there rules associated with when to apply a level or not? For example do you use the MACD to assist with the decision to apply a level or not? Many ...

Is approximately 1.0820 a level now?

SL hit on the buy trade = -30 pips for the week.

Jewel... that was the way I analyzed it. However, I was one of the fortunate who had their trade trigger... because in retrospect I wasn't 100% precise with the 10 pip rule... my entry was at 1.0943 rather than 1.09433. Hope that helps.

I am assuming NOT... because the candle broke the level and closed above the level. That said the close of the next 4 hour candle could indicate a fakeout

Nadi-fx, when a trade is fulfilled, as with buy#2 in the post above… do you enter another pending buy order at that same level to replace it? In this case I am assuming you do.

Buy#2 closed with +90 pips; Buy #1 is still in-progress with SL at BE; and Sell #1 activated. image

Yes, I was fortunate enough to get triggered... SL at BE now on that trade... wait and see how much follow through there is, esp with FOMC tomorrow

I have never used the MT4 trailing stop previously.... I notice it is in points.... is 300 points = 30 pips?
- pakeha replied May 2, 2023
Up late.... so now you are out of that open trade? Regardless, I can now see why the 30-pip trailing stop makes sense. Gets you out of a minor move at BE and allows you to wait for the next level to enter

Two questions if I may.... 1. For the top sell level why is the order placed at that level on the wick? 2. for the buy level second from the bottom (around 1.09408) which candle is the level based on, and why was that candle/wick selected? Thanks
