That's one viewpoint. Another would be that the sideways action is a great example of how markets can consolidate via either price OR time. This congestion will break one way or another. Technical analysis would suggest a break up and out of this sideways chop is just asikely, if not moreso, than a break down.

However, that is exactly what makes a market. I could as easily suggest the opposite to be true, that we are still floating in hyperscaler bubble land and need to see some downside movement before a florally can continue. Here, we cite the overextension from the monthly moving averages alongside the "fact" (tongue in cheek here, as nothing HAS to behave this way) that you just "can't" have a market that goes up double digits year after year after year....especially one where the majority of the growth is effectively driven solely by one sector (semiconductors).

.......of course, if semis stay flat and the rest of the market ''catches up'......
