you can do whatever you want - but fundamental and technical traders dont trade based on news, because by the time the REAL news get publicized its already too late or the news is an actual psyop - the technical traders avoid news, thats why most try to close their position before CPI/NFP release and enter after the release.

You could sure find an edge in that if you spend years to craft a system or you have savant IQ who can decipher the psyop in real time.

News are useless when it comes to making money, sure you can predict a war or certain events - but this is not something that will help you daily - news does tell a narrative, but its useless as a day trader....

This war is a none trading event - and if you trade, lower your risk tremendously, because nothing makes sense and the market is highly manipulative and volatile

The style of trading that works in this forex market is the style I used when I first started trading 20 years ago. It works for a while, but don't confuse luck with skill.

Ok, I look at key levels too, but there is nothing about a break in key levels that means it will keep going or turn around. Whether or not the levels mean anything depends on whether Trump is ending the war or ending civilization that day lol

You're right. Key levels aren't a determining factor. Price action reacts at these levels. Anything from a simple 5min Equal High can show whether price continues or hits a wall. But when you tie key levels in like S/R (there isn't always S/R), equal highs/lows, swing highs/lows, psychological levels, etc., it's only one part of a system. Breakouts of consolidation zones aren't always true.. but I do have the ability to identify fakeouts.. and throw in some patience and discipline.. I'm kind of a very consistent trader. Won 4 of 5 two weeks ago, won 4 of 4 this past week.. my system is trusted and gives your average trader much needed confidence

I don't know, are you sure you're not confusing luck with skill? Because there is nothing in the charts that determines when Trump is going to start or stop the war, and therefore no way to know whether a breakout is a fakeout. News (or anticipation of news) is what determines chart patterns, so using TA to determine the news is putting the cart in front of the horse. But if a lot of traders are focused on a level, like 160 USDJPY because the boj has drawn a line in the sand, then yeah it can work. Or DXY 100 because traders pile a lot of orders there.

DXY is over 100 now so does that mean it's going higher or going back down? If you say it depends on the news, the fed, inflation, etc then it's not TA. If you say it depends on "price action" then you're saying if it stays above 100 then it goes higher, but what if it goes up and down through 100 a bunch of times whittling you down with stoplosses? There is nothing about price action that determines the future either.

If you're making money then it's because you're choosing high probability entries and exits carefully, and not so much whether you're basing it on levels, trendlines, moving averages, fib retracement or whatever. There are lots of good systems, but the skill is being disciplined enough to stick to it. Jesse Livermore said the hardest part of trading is the sitting around doing nothing for long periods of time while your setup develops.

So your system is mainly discipline. You stay out of low probability trades and wait for high probability trades. Other than that, there is no special insight.

On top of it, we have a market that is confounding oldtimers because of Trump's constant meddling and central banks aren't reacting the way they traditionally do to inflation. Traders get a good setup that would have worked if Trump hadn't tweeted something stupid. Then you come along and say they don't know how to trade. But if Trump hadn't existed they would look like geniuses and you would be losing, so it's just luck.

Last week RBNZ said they would raise rates faster and by more than they thought in February, and NZDUSD shot up towards 60, but now it's 58. If Trump had ended the war last weekend or if NFP would have been bad then it would be 61. So there was nothing in the chart saying it would bounce off 60 and go lower, since whether it's 58 or 61 depends entirely on news. So if you would have been shorting from 60 because it's a key level, then you'd think you're smart, but really you were lucky.
