SEC Eyes Exemption for Tokenized Stock Trading on Crypto Platforms
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing to outline a framework that could allow tokenized versions of stocks to trade on crypto platforms, according to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter. The proposal centers on an “innovation exemption” that would permit certain digital representations of securities to trade outside traditional exchange infrastructure. If released, the exemption would mark one of the clearest attempts by a U.S. regulator to test whether blockchain-based systems can be used in mainstream equity markets without waiting for a full legislative rewrite.
