Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex has asked a federal court in Seattle to vacate its 2023 settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and order the agency to return the $24 million it paid in penalties, citing the regulator’s broad shift in approach to digital assets. Attorneys for the exchange filed a motion this week arguing that the SEC’s reversal on whether most crypto tokens qualify as securities undermines the legal foundation of the original case. Iranian army detains oil tanker for ‘violations,’ Tasnim reports The Iranian army seized an oil tanker for “attempting to disrupt oil exports and the interests of the Iranian nation,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported. “Naval commandos of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, during a special operation, detained the violating oil tanker Ocean Koi,” Tasnim said. The agency published a video that appeared to show at least two small boats approaching a ship under darkness and armed men boarding the vessel and raising the Iranian flag.
