    Ukraine has asked Turkey to host a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, its top diplomat said, as Kyiv seeks to reinvigorate stalling peace talks. Russia attacked Ukraine. If your country gets attacked is it you who drag the country into war or the one who attacked you? You are basically blaming the victim.

No real prospect for meaningful counteroffensive

Energy supplies to Europe are being constricted and energy prices rising

My opinion this is London and brussels seeing further conflict in Iran and trying to set up a sustainable solution in Ukraine/Europe for at least the time being.

This is part of reason why you are seeing Zelensky negotiations and reopening of Russian pipeline to EU.

Make it 900 billion, nothing will change, the pool of mercs around the world have shrunk by about 70% due to this war - what you have left is expensive mercs or inexperienced mercs - both Russia and OTAN are using mercs along with their own experienced soldiers - Russia is gaining more land as the weeks pass... its slow, but land taken is consolidated with no chance of being lost again - this week they announced full control of Lugansk.

Russia is also looking east for energy partnership - the stolen Russian assets are a big problem, how will energy from Russia be settled?

btw this pipeline payed Ukraine fees for transiting through its territory..... which is weird, because this will directly fund weapons to kill Russians and mercs on Russian payroll...... politics is sometime disgusting!

Very interesting indeed. Same as Europe continuing to buy Russian oil, in theory facilitating the 'war machine'. but they truly have limited options there

That being said and all things being equal in terms of conflict of interests, Russia planned for a war of attrition and manpower, self contained steady access to supplies, seem to have been the reason they can maintain their gains and impose their reality.

Europe gets Russian energy through third parties, just added layers and more expensive to comply with its own sanctions - idiotic to say the least.

But OTAN and Russia have different objectives, OTAN wants to colonize Russia and make it obedient vassal, while Russia wants security by not having OTAN at its doorstep, Russia is not ethnically cleansing Ukraine to steal its land and settle Russians there, like the genocidal illegitimate colony in west asia - but its taking over the land and the people - which is how wars have been fought for centuries before the bankers came to power and started to massacre people and to settle their own.
