They changed the whole format to allow for manipulation of threads.

now outthere and his gang operate 10 suck-puppet accounts boosting their own comments and flagging down other comments.

A none operator like me or Ferna have no chance in this format, I dont have energy to burn multiple email accounts for this lousy forum by creating suck-puppet accounts...

I STILL say Jeff and Ferna are the same person (so Ferna is doing just fine)....but that's partially in jest.

I guess people could play the algo right back and post their commentary under the top ranked thread post) regardless of whether it applies to that post. Though, it seems replies are hidden by default, so perhaps that was already considered.

Uh, there's been a threat that in 9 hours Iran will be bombed more significantly than ever.....and you think there won't be public dialog about that? You can expect dozens more of these before 8PM EST.

Keep an eye on the VIX and on /CL. That will tell you when information will stop being as important. If the VIX falls to 20-22 today (ha!) then you can assume news flow will be less impactful as a deal will have been struck.

.....all that said, I, like you, wish this dialog wasn't NEEDED. But, not needed because war wasn't taking place not because parties should stay quiet while the war is ongoing.

Yeah, that's fair. But how many of us are familiar with the news agencies being referenced and/or the accuracy of the information?

That's my only point. There is going to be information. Disinformation. Lies. Truth. Horror. Hope. It is all going to flow.

Even MORE concerning is the fact that we won't know what is real or fake unless we see video proof...and even then, we are on the cusp of AI being able to deep fake Trump holding a press conference saying "a deal has been struck, the war is over". Remember that market-moving "pentagon on fire" photo incident a few years back? That is going to look like kindergarten crayon work compared to the legitimacy of future AI-generated maliciousness. Honestly, I am surprised we haven't seen a massive amount of it during this war.

Haha - EXACTLY!

I saw the Trump post from this weekend and immediately said "oh, crap, his account has been hacked....now we can't trust ANYTHING that is posted to be coming from the administration" (not that you could "trust" it before per say, but you could at least trust that it was the administration posting it).

But, after 72 hours, it still hasn't been called a hack so, at this point, either A) the administration doesn't want to alert the public for the exact reason I mentioned above (it would remove the President's most effective communication medium), or B) it was actually posted by Trump (also scary).

/CL just had an interesting 1- min candle...as did the VIX. And now more.....one could create a conspiracy theory here that "insiders" are getting ahead of something......


It's 3% off highs without any meaningful news that suggests de-escalation....could be a clue. Or could just be typical market movement (though I am more inclined to believe the former)


*edit* More downside in VIX and /CL and a pop in equities....someone knows something and is spooking the algos.....Or we are going to see a HUGE drop in equities and a massive move up in /cl to over 120 in the next few minutes as the big boys are setting up for a gut-wrenching situation.

Iran has multiple factions vying for control of the country. You have the clerics (church,) businessmen/industrialists, and the military. The church has control over the military, and 2-3 generations of brainwashing and indoctrination on the leaders of IRGC and the Church, who control the Regular Military and Police. So you have the younger gen z and millennials who've had access to western media and the internet, plus, not religiously radical, business men/industrialists who want to free Iran of the dictatorship and open the country to the world.

Trump, well US is pitting both parties against 1 another, but using Israeli intelligence in Iran, along with Israeli assets to conduct most anti-personal and infrastructure strikes, to help the non radical side defeat the radicals who have the military and state apparatuses.

Micromanaging like this will eventually result in a revolt in the debt market which will lead to yields spiking higher and sparking a huge sell-off in every market. God only knows how much of the US debt the Fed will have to buy to keep yields from going astronomically higher.

Last April....well, 1-year EXACTLY from today...ironic?...the bond market "saved" us all by selling off and forcing the White House to implement the tariff 'pause'. It moved from 120 > 110.50 in 3 days. That was enough. Prices fell further, but it was enough to shift the policy.

We've seen 119>111.'25 this cycle, but it has happened since the start of the war (not as abrupt). Let's just hope the administration is still mindful and considers the ramifications.

Every single time this type of news is released when the market shows weak technicals, what a coincidence.
I've never seen a market pumped this way. The dip buyers will suffer. Clearly the value of equities is at least 10% Blower then current price. When price will cascade down before of longs covering their loss, we may get -20% on equities.
Oil has been above 100 for a while, still going up. Inflation numbers will hit hard. Higher rates projections will hit hard. All that independently of war outcome. In Australia Diesel price per liter doubled in a few weeks, how that supposed to do to inflation? not hard to guess.. all asia affected.

Careful though. One tweet (strait is opening -US)and oil is back under 100. Tweet confirmed ('agreement to end war and open strait' -Iran) and we're back down to 80. Likihood? 0.05% maybe?

Either way, inflation SHOULD, indeed, be rising. But the markets have already priced in no FED rate cuts until Oct 2027, so there's only upside there (unless hikes get repriced again).

This thing could just as easily swing to the upside.

I, for one, am looknig at the odd oil moves today, considering the overwhelming pessimism surrounding the near future, and am thereby thinking we're in for an upside equity surprise.

But, then again, that might be wishful thinking.

Market integrity would be categorically destroyed if it were to be made public that sort of behavior occurred.

That said, I recall MULTIPLE instances during the early Russian Ukraine war where I kept thinking Putin would have been doing exactly that.

What better way to fund the war chest than have proxies buying/selling up into an event, dropping some massive market-impacting news, and then have those proxies collect.

Oddly, the market moves much more reliably on tweets these days than it does on historical information/leaks like earnings or macro numbers. If I gave you earnings numbers for this afternoon and told you to enter a position between now and then that would net $$, you'd be hard pressed to do so accurately (the market can move whatever direction on good or bad financial news). If, however, I was to tell you "I am going to say there is a ceasefire at 1:47PM today, get into position to capitalize", you could EASILY gear up for that.

Doing it well (spreading the trades over a longer time period/exiting at steady intervals) also helps mask the intentions. Kind of like seeing the multiple 1-min candles of oil that each moved nearly 1% today on "no impactful news". If that isn't someone gearing up for a big drop, I don't know what is.

That said, maybe it's just wishful thinking as I am long equities and would happily see a pop on some tweets about the war ending.
