UK gambling regulator considers allowing crypto payments
The UK Gambling Commission is exploring the possibility of allowing cryptocurrencies to be used as a payment method at licensed online casinos. The discussion comes as the country prepares to implement a new regulatory framework for the crypto market under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Tim Miller, the Commission’s executive director for research and policy, said at the Betting and Gaming Council’s annual meeting in London that the regulator is assessing a “potential path forward” to enable cryptoassets to be used as a consumer payment option in licensed gambling in Great Britain.
