    The United States of America will slap an additional 100 per cent tariff on imports from China and impose export controls on all critical US-made software from November 1, President Donald Trump said on Friday (Oct 10). In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: "Starting November 1st, 2025 (or sooner, depending on any further actions or changes taken by China), the United States of America will impose a Tariff of 100 per cent on China, over and above any Tariff that they are currently paying." The problem with Trump is his lack of self-control. That alone makes him unfit to be a world leader. You don’t have to be a bully to be strong. True leadership requires wisdom, restraint, and integrity.

Greedy politicians and corporations have made the U.S. dependent on products from China. Now, with these 100% tariffs, Americans will end up paying much more for everyday goods because most of what’s sold in our stores comes from China. We didn’t choose this dependency; it was pushed on us by those chasing profit.

Yes, I want America to make its own products again. But because we’ve become so dependent on China, sudden and extreme tariffs won’t help our economy. They’ll likely make things worse.

Trump’s impulsive decisions are reckless and harmful to the U.S. economy. A leader who cannot exercise self-control endangers the very nation he claims to protect.

If America would really make its own products, the price of those products would be too expansive for customers to buy, because paying workers and so on are much higher in America.
See how expansive a iPhone produced in America cost.
Why do you think all companies produce in cheaper countries?
China doesn't depend on America, you see when you look where China buys soybeans now. But the Americans still want the cheap products from China. Steal made in America? Haha that would be extreme expansive steal.

I think the whole point of a Black Swan Event is that no-one expects it, no-one sees it coming, and no-one is prepared for it. So just about everyone is caught on the wrong side of the market, heading for the exit all at the same time with no willing buyers to be found anywhere? ( forget retail - I'm talking professionals here)

So after many years there are a few things I have worked into my lexicon.

When people cry 'Fake news' having had little time to verify - I think it has a higher probability of being true than I would otherwise have ascribed.

When people cry 'Black Swan' I immediately think not yet (if at all).

When Gurus call 'Market Tops' I expect it to go much higher.

When they're calling it a 'Bull Market' I become more cautious.

When it's officially a recession I think OK that was the last two periods - maybe we can start growing from here.

You get the idea.

Of course not.

A real correction starts about 8% to 10% down move. Still far away from that, but who knows next week.

For now it looks big boys found a trigger/reason to take some chips of the table to take profit in these much to high/inflated markets.

So not a black swan so far. More a grey one.

Apart from that, Q3 earnings start soon. Also often a reason to take back some gas.

Just a thought bubble - When did manufacturing begin to decline in the USA? I remember reading that it was maybe 30 or 40 years ago.

When did China appear as a manufacturing base? 20 years ago or so?

Happy to be corrected. I am going from memory from a source which had researched the timeline, and I have even forgotten the source. I remember thinking at the time, well, that's an interesting factoid, innit.

While performing my leisurely weekend chart reading activities I saw the pa on fri and instantly thought to myself, oh noes, I hope Trump has not been midnight twitter ranting.. again. Myself comes here to see the news that supposedly caused the violent pa. Low and behold, I am not surprised one bit. haha

I doubt us equities will drop far. 50% of the move from April would be the accepted norm for a healthy pullback. Unquestionably strong market however. We may get very little returns to the downside. Considering that tariffs off again will probably pop it back just as if not harder than it dropped.

Either way. Strap in, tighten your harnesses (stop losses people, and obey them). And of course have oooodles of fun. Let the wallst bear have his way and get back onboard the wallst bull when he comes back fighting fit.

There's a very old saying in this game. I suggest you think about this one, very, very closely. I still do. After all this time.

Bulls make money. Bears make money and little Piggies get Slaughtered.
