US: Inflation is heating up

Inflation is heating up? The GDP Price index is 2.1%, PPI 2.6% and CPI 2.9% while the average annual inflation over the last 50 years has been 3.38%. And those who professed doom and gloom a short while ago are now writing articles about how "economy is more resilient than it was previously reported."

Reported by whom? The journos based on their political proclivities and bias, the nine months of positive economic data be damned. This article is another one like that.

Hints to those with a low intestinal fortitude and possibly a limited knowledge of economic and the mathematics of inflation:

1. The household income has been increasing slightly above the rate of inflation for decades thereby slowly increasing the American standard of living that remains the highest in the world for the common man.

2. The 2% inflation target adopted by our FED and emulated by the central banks world over is not a result of any scientific economic study but it has been pulled out of the thin air. Therefore, it could be easily either 1% or 3% just as well.

3. The low positive inflation is a good thing as it protects us against the dreaded deflation whereby the prices start dropping uncontrollably, producers and retailers cannot recover their costs and a waive of bankruptcies ensues.

This week will be busy in terms of macro statistics:
Tuesday
JOLTS Job Openings. We will see what happens in terms of vacancies (as one of the measurements of the labor market)
CB Consumer Confidence. The level of consumer confidence from the Conference Board
Chicago PMI - not the most important indicator, but interesting.
Wednesday
ADP Nonfarm Employment (automated labor market data)
ISM Manufacturing PMI (business activity in manufacturing - leading indicator)
And with it - ISM Manufacturing Employment, labor market data from ISM
Friday
Labor market data spectrum. - the most important data of the week (maybe the month). Let's see what happens with the labor market, and then we will draw conclusions.

What effect does this means for EURUSD# This means there is going to be a push up because buyers will use this to buy more of EUR
