    China’s consumer prices fell more than expected in August while deflation in factory-gate prices persisted, as calls mounted for Beijing to ramp up measures to bolster sluggish domestic demand and cushion weakening exports growth. The consumer price index dipped 0.4% last month from a year earlier, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics released Wednesday, compared with Reuters-polled economists’ forecast for a 0.2% contraction. Official data is manipulated/ massaged. Especially when it comes to Western institutes reporting on the "competitors" its impossible to discern true economic health from a single headline/ number. Nor can you trust economic forecasts. This is all a circus. If you really want to know, become a data detective.

Us "Triangulation" – gather multiple, independent sources of data (especially hard data) to see if they all point to the same conclusion. If the 'official' number says one thing, but ten other hard-to-fake metrics all say the opposite, you have a much stronger case than just headline data
