I don't pretend to understand Holocaust deniers. It hadn't occurred to me that they may be lying knowingly and intentionally. That is on another level, so of course you are correct should that be the situation - no debate at all which is my primary position anyway.

I guess it is open to debate if the deniers are not doing it with knowledge or intentionally lying. Hard to imagine, I know.

I'm not qualified to comment on hate speech because I don't know enough (anything?) about it and I am not sure if it has a specific enough definition applicable to all circumstances. What I do know is confined to the common law as applicable in Australia which protects individuals from defamation or vilification. That's all.

Rather than go down some path reminiscent of the fire and brimstone platitudes associated with perhaps some Pentecostal or Evangelical movements, the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky had a great deal to say about the notion of evil and the human condition.

While he wrote many quite profound novels (set in Russia), I would recommend The Possessed, the Brothers Karamazov, Crime and Punishment, and The Idiot.

You can probably borrow them at your happy local public library. Read some reviews (or Wiki) first, to get a flavour, and to understand all the names of all the characters. I reckon you'd love them while your algorithms hum gently by.

Listen! - It's straight and simple. The one supporting the evil is evil himself. That should be easily understood by anyone having a human heart and a human soul. As I said, freedom of speech is very good thing when it serves the freedom and the human rights and a very bad thing when it serves the evil. Freedom of speech is a part of the human rights and it is a tool to protect powerless people against powerful politicians. It doesn't help against evil dictators though. It needs a democracy to unleash its power.
Many people look like humans anatomically and physiologically, but they have a rotten soul and a mindset which wants them to do evil things because this is the only way they can make the world remember them for centuries ahead.

I'd encourage any and all speech with few exceptions. The complete opposite of the truncated "free speech" advocated by those of a touchy feely political disposition. It is invariably the do gooders and censors who are the purveyors of exactly what they despise.

For two reasons. One is that censoring it only drives it underground, and related to this - out in the open you know who you are dealing with and may put in place any necessary adjustments to their lifestyle if necessary.

And can criticise any nonsense like advocating WWIII in a manner that is educational rather than disciplinary.

I'm also in favour of due process so that anyone who slips up has an opportunity to either defend themselves or apologise. Can't do that if stopped out.

You have no idea, do you? I recommend that you google what liberalism, fascism and communism are and how they differ from each other.

In any case, if your goal is to undermine democracy or you just don't like it, you should not use freedom of speech as a justification to spread lies and propaganda as in fascism and communism there is no freedom of speech. Or you have the freedom to speak once and after that you go to jail.
