What a great deal again from the dear leader. It must have been very demanding to inform Vietnam that their exports to USA will have a 20% surcharge which the US consumer will eventually pay for.

Add 20% drop in the USD value on top of that and the US consumers will soon pay 40% more for their imported goods. No wonder why the FED cannot lower rates.

He keeps trying to sell the idea that an other country is gone pay the tariffs. And still many people buy that.

As posted above already....US$ value loss plus additional tarrifs is about 40% on the import price/value.

Add and X % of higher margin the importer/retailer will (has to) charge..............

It will defenitly do not bring back the textile sweat shops, furniture makers and phone builders to the US anyway.

It is my opinion that the SUV or, as it is sometimes referred to, Large Engine Vehicle, which does so well in the United States, will be a wonderful addition to the various product lines within Vietnam.

He has never been in Vietnam before. Those big US SUVs/"Tesler" Cyber Tanks do not fit on the Vietnamese roads between the millions of scooter drivers.

He brags that US farmers can sell their product to Vietnam now.
Food in Vietnam is so cheap that US farmers can NEVER compete (with their more expensive products) with Vietnam farmers.
So a huge win for US farmers is just a Big Beautifel Balloon filled with air.

A huge win for America overall has to be seen.

It does because the correct question would be why EU uses tariffs. EU would prefer to reduce tariffs with USA to 0 from the previous average of around 2%. However, EU population should be protected against the poor quality of US farm and agricultural products.
