It's really not. He's basically been saying the same thing as far as when they'll be ready to move on cutting rates. This patience approach is honestly the best INCASE inflation does speed up then you're in a better position to react vs if you cut rates and inflation starts picking up. It's a balancing act at this moment and you won't be able to make everyone happy. I think Powell is getting a good glimpse of that but he's still taking the jabs and rolling with the punches so I'll give him that.

Quite funny everyone think Powell has absolute power.

I doubt if he even has a VETO vote, like some security members of UN.

If the other members who are equally intelligent feel the need to reduce or increase, Powell cannot override their collective decision.

So let us stop scape goating Powell and see the group of voters.

In the UK, 3 voted for reduction, if they had gotten the number to 5, then a reduction would have happened

Trump always needs a scapegoat , in every facet of his life .

He doesn’t shoulder responsibility well , he’ll lay it off onto the closest potential culprit he can think of .

Facts!!! Probably the most sensible & intelligent comment I’ve read on FF calendar. It doesn’t make sense for him to cut rates when they don’t even fully know nor understand how the orange man’s tariffs will disrupt the labour force or inflation. If they cut rates too early the USA will definitely enter recession and start crying, mostly will call for him to be sacked.

That’s actually true. Both the Fed and BoE rely on voting systems, I don’t know why Trump & loads of traders scape goat Powell. Even if he voted for rate cuts but the others voted otherwise, nothing will change

Wondering if Powell see the USDCHF??? How he can say USD is reserve money... As you can see CHF is king now.

Look to CJFJPY as well.... uSD and JPY are dead.
