A new study has found that Bitcoin mining produces harmful air pollutants, with fine particles from the facilities crossing state borders, affecting areas far from the mines themselves. Between August 2022 to July 2023, some 1.9 million Americans were exposed to significant levels of these fine particles, according to researchers behind a groundbreaking study published in Nature Communications.
