    In a dramatic escalation of East-West tensions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian nuclear forces put on high alert Sunday in response to what he called “aggressive statements” by leading NATO powers. The order means Putin wants Russia’s nuclear weapons prepared for increased readiness to launch and raises the threat that Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and the West’s response to it could boil over into nuclear warfare. Amid the worrying development, the office of Ukraine’s president said a delegation would meet with Russian officials as Moscow’s troops drew closer ... (full story)

He does not give a shit about Ukrainian membership of NATO as NATO never presented any danger to Russia. Never. Just give us example with facts and source if you believe the opposite.
This NATO issue is just a pretext to destroy Ukraine. Unfortunately for him, his calculations appear to be wrong. His real problem is that he cannot lose face and he will easily get on the way to suicide when he realize he is losing this war. This man is absolutely crazy. He has lost his mind and now even if he understands that he made a terrible mistake, it’s too late for his ego to turn around and find a peaceful solution. He wants to be remembered as a strong kgb man. Sadly this is a terrible misunderstanding of what a real leader should look like and it brings terrible consequences to the whole human population in the world. He doesn’t realize that he won’t be loved for what he does. He will be hated for all eternity like Hitler is. Totally crazy idiot.
Yes he is a coward… a desperate coward. A real leader would meet the opposite side and work to find a solution which suits everyone, not only his ego. A really good leader would show that he cares about the future of his nation. What Putin does now, is destroying the future of the Russian people and of many other nations just because he cannot lose face. Isn’t this a desperate coward? Yes it is. This is a desperate coward.

PS: Romania, Bulgaria and Poland are NATO members. Do they have rockets pointed toward Russia? No they don’t because it isn’t necessary. Nobody wants to threaten Russian and create unnecessary tensions. Russia was very welcome in many international goodwill organizations and associations. Now Russia is getting more and more isolated because of Putin.
NATO never presented any kind of danger to Russia. Many countries in Europe have existed peacefully around Russia without being NATO members, but now all of them will turn to NATO and apply for membership not to endanger Russia, but to seek safety and protection from increasingly aggressive Russia.

The weapons are air delivery systems and the PAL codes which must be used to arm them remain in American hands.
NATO does not own any nuclear weapons.
So reality check is that 1)US has had nuclear weapons in Europe since Putin was in diapers. (So nothing new there?) (2) The numbers are much reduced in last 30 years. (3) The weapons are Stored - not deployed. and (4) are stored in Western Europe..not Eastern Europe.
So much for provocation?
