For Europeans its an increasing concerning issue that so much personal data on citizens of the EU is now held by US Based companys, over which the EU has limited oversight. In the pre-Trumpian world it might have escaped notice for some further years, but now this matter is going to come to a head very soon.
And I for one will be lobbying for a robust Regional strategy to reverse this, not unlike the Chinese approach if necessary. Information is power and we no longer live in a world where most Europeans trust the US as in previous decades ..so we need to review this now.

Wouldn't you say that most developed countries are doing this very same thing? It's about survival in internet commerce, of which most companies/countries are participating in.

I recently contacted our local MP (happened to be a Tory though I did not vote Tory in Dec 19 for the first time in my life) in regard of some medical equipment we wish to donate to NHS. Our info got routed by my MP through and to a firm in usa, a procurement co. Just WTF was that with! We were trying to help in the pandemic and it needed approval from usa, just eat it! These axxs in usa did not want our donation as they claimed they have adequate - but I suspect these txxts forgot they are in usa not UK.

I stopped communicating with them and donated our kits to local GPs instead.

This selling off of our NHS has been going on for some time, no doubt about it.....

Yet you see on this FF forum, ignorant bxgots ranting about lets make our country great again - so no problem spying on others while others cannot do what we do!

CNBC reporting China is okay with the deal. I think they probably wouldn't have been if Oracle and Walmart weren't throwing lots of money at them.
