It is about more than George Floyd. I joined the peaceful protest in Salt Lake City. I was standing there and watched the handful of people that encouraged and took action to turn it into a riot. The signs they held weren't about police corruption and brutality. The signs were professionally printed and were properly hand printed. They were signs promoting the Socialist Democrats, Marxism, Anti-Capitalism, Anti-America. I have these people on video. I was there and I can tell you this is Antifa and the Left Wing Progressives. Our form of government is a Republic and is a system that works within a framework of law and limited Government. What I saw was a movement toward Totalitarianism and an oppressive government that wants to limit our Liberty and individual freedoms. All leaders, by definition, lead with whatever agenda they believe in and those that follow usually agree with that agenda. The rest resist and don't follow. That's called a different opinion. Divisive is a word used by the intolerant to describe someone that doesn't agree with their opinions. Tolerance is the ability to get along respectfully and still disagreeing about things. Career politicians and the police are more corrupt than ever and are nothing more than thugs and they are at the heart of this problem. Supporting more of it rather than trying to reform it makes no sense to me.

House prices rising out of reach of the ordinary guy, ( Carpenter, electrician, hospital worker etc) in the USA is something that is happening in the UK, causing resentment among those who cannot save a deposit and are thus trapped in the rental market. Some sort of catalysis will no doubt arise in the UK , at some point, acting as a blow off valve for peoples frustration over the inability of their earnings to keep up with the housing market, among other things. So the article has a point but the danger is the Govt. and it's supporters will probably blame discontent on so called criminal classes. Europe saw similar in the past. The UK is still stuck in the past - for now.

IMHO the problem goes even beyond racism..

Lesson learned since the 2008 “Great Financial Crisis,” is that monetary and fiscal policy interventions do not lead to increased levels of economic wealth or prosperity. What these programs have done, is act as a wealth transfer system from the bottom 90% to the top 10%. Racial minorities are disproportionately affected. Current administration pursues policies that exacerbates this problem.

It happens everywhere. Personally I dont like it but I am stuck with it. What makes things even worse is that when things are getting bad for the 10% who are well off they are being bailed out by the 90% who does not have anything. Its screwed but unfortunaltely thats how it works.

Thats its always a laugh for Europeans to hear Americans bundle the mildest socially responsible democratic administration models - as Socialist-Communist. In Europe we almost all live in societies with amazing universal health services (like the UKs NHS), and with comprehensive social security nets for our least privileged citizens. For the vast majority, both socialist and conservative these are part of what it is to be a civilized country. Does it mean more taxation..yes.. in most European mainstream countries Tax as % total revenues GDP runs between 35-45%.. compared with US at 25%... and OECD average at 34%
As a result we find (particularly US rightwing descriptions of our systems bizarre... and marvel at their tolerance to living in a society with no significant health, employment, consumer protection and H&S etc.. safeguards, which here are for most part, with some small variations, equally cherished by both right and left wing governments in the traditional European political government spectrum.
Perhaps why some conversations here become so acrimonious..

It takes a special kind of person to not understand that when city blocks are arson-ed to spell out a word, that there is a political organization actively inciting Riot. That is called insurrection.

That conditions are favorable to exploit the populace that then goes off and burns their own neighborhoods is another question as to reason.

Is Fed policy responsible? Not wholly but certainly contributes to the situation.
The economic growth model is solely based upon debt expansion and as consequence only those with access to bank system are in position to acquire Leverage and be able to purchase.

Government regulatory burdens shut out many who might substitute sweat equity for the savings they lack in Housing Sector. Affordable shelter begins with a Shack not a Mansion.

For Traders can the economic situation be changed. Yes it can and it will be.
Political Will has been lacking to redirect the economy into a sustainable path as that entails sourcing Jobs within the Home nation. This is where things are moving.

Domestic issues are going to be prioritized and the deflationary aspects of Globalization are getting reversed.

Systemic racism was brought to this country on 3 leaky diseased infested boats and has fostered its way throughout the American fabric from the outhouse to the Whitehouse. Until white Americans can acknowledge this as a group and help end it. It will continue as the disease it is.

The question arises at some point, about the sustainability of an increasingly divided and unequal US society.
So far suggest US is in a classic "Boiling the Frog" exercise, where as usual those at the very bottom are feeling the heat first. The administration political PlayBook is to distract the middle ground, characterizing the problem as one a "Strong Man" will reverse, (aka Bunker Trump) whose ticket to power involves muddying the systematic failures, with distraction,-by fanning nationalism, racism and sectarianism, and continually distracting the media focus with more and more outrageous stunts, serial disingenuity and spin. And its apparently still working... and may lead to a second term... or in the event of a close run thing.. a serious constitutional crisis. My un-involved personal view is that it will not end well.. since its continued momentum is reminiscent to Europe in the '30s. America is going thru dangerous times.
But thats just painting one view of the political background..
Our focus as investors/traders is how to personally survive and prosper in this dystopian reality.
In the big picture, I dont see a further substantial market crash as immediately likely though wouldn't rule out event driven retrace, since the now out of control Government deficit spending the bubble and the equity market is facilitated by Treasury and Fed money printing. I don't relate to the term manipulated.. often used here, because that implies a secretive conspiracy.. far from it.. it not secretive.. its right out there in the open.
In the Fx space it is, as almost always, seriously complicated and involves anticipating flows. Im far from clear where the dollar is going post C19, but the pound Im very bearish on.
Any views?

Medicare, Medicaid, and millions with health insurance through and paid for by employers. And Social Security for the retired. People are hardly on their own here. Europe is still capitalist though with the higher taxes and control. A story that may well have been lost with all the rest is that Trump has negotiated much lower prices on insulin. Something like 88 insurance companies have agreed to charge no more that $35 / month with some going free. I've heard a lot of horror stories re the NHS. Also have heard of Brits coming here same as Canadians for health care. Other than Americans wanting the lower drug prices no one goes to Canada for anything.

Friend,in countries with limited freedoms, totalitarians regimes and oppression people don't have the right to protest and when they do the government massacre the riots in a day or two with no regard for human life or damage to people, you are clearly confused and repeating what you heard, no system is perfect and this one is far from it as well but believe me, life is a lot easier in the US for whoever who wants to prosper than virtually 95% of the world.

There will always be the argument of this system is better or worse because of ....FILL IN THE BLANK.. So I guess it boils down to quality of life and an interesting stat that has been increasing in the US is the number of people who HAVE to continue working into their old age. I think its pitiful the number of over Seventies that need to work in the states to pay their health insurance. Most americans don't see that the only winners in their system are the insurance companies and big pharma, which like the rest of US big business control more of the election outcomes than Joe Public will ever know.

100% correct, that m.f. made a lot of people fled the island leaving families behind. Everybody is well aware of what happen when you protest against a regime like that so they just leave the country when they can. When protest happens is because people are allow to protest, fine example is Chile, they destroyed the subway in Santiago last year, I don't recall anything like that with the dictator Pinochet in power.

I stand corrected. Shows just how much distortion there is of facts, almost impossible to keep up.
Still does not change there is a political agenda to overthrow the US Constitution.
It may very well come down to those who will defend it at all cost which will make the difference. Those who are Hell bent on destroying it be warned there are those who will not let it fail.

Absolutely, allow me to laugh, are not those the reason why many economics in Europe are getting crappier over and over ? Is not due to being a civilized society that Europe did not do anything when Hitler started arming Germany and allow the continent to fall in that huge disaster called WW2 and started running scare when it was too late, the only reason why Europe is what it is today is US, you were saved from becoming part of a Soviet Union takeover by US, or you think after Germany was defeated and the whole continent was on its knees the Soviets were going to let you alone? The only country than hardly stand was UK and was matter of time before it fell when Soviet Union forced Germany to look to the est, United States did not defeated Germany, The Soviet Union did. America just saved western Europeans of becoming all eastern Europeans with all the good and the bad that system brought to those countries I bet in that situation you would not have today that beauty of health care do you ?

Pressure your representatives around the world and make them accountable for every decision. Make sure you are consulted.
