$500 is too small for a miniaccount, it really would be a margincall waiting to happen. I think $10k is the minimum for a mini and $1k the minimum for a micro.. Just my 2 pips.. I think Oanda let you trade any amount, so they may be well suited.

I think you would usually pay the swap if you are long and receive if u are short. I think the swap is closely linked to the amount you would get for holding the same amount in cash.

I know what u mean, about some broker site looking awful. Personally, I would chose a big broker that has been in business a long time and has a lot of clients. I dont think you can use server side stops etc with MT4.

there is still a big difference between rates in japan and the britain, eurozone and many other nations, so there will still be many players in the carry trades. Don't forget, most carry traders lose money.

I like to keep things simple. I trade the setups I see. I Use stops incremental stops and TPs and tend not to watch price too often whilst in a trade as there is not much point, as the decision is made to trade. Even if I lose it is not a bad trade, ...

yeah.. I noticed the futures are well down.. the FTSE is too in the UK. I was surprised when it went upto 14k, with all the credit issues lingering.. I still think 12k could come into play in the future.. but who knows?

eur/chf largely follows the other carry trades. It's been down down down in the short term, but the long trend is up. The subprime issues are still playing on the mind of investor and speculators.

The daily rollover is paid or charged based on the interest rate differentials. For example if you are long on USD/JPY you will earn interest because the US has a higher benchmark rate than Japan. However, if you are short you will pay interest.
