JR97 replied Feb 22, 2009This is getting way off the original point. The original post was about strategies and finding what works. I was merely trying to point out that it's not just about the strategy but about the MM. The proof of 50% outcome still being profitable is in ...

JR97 replied Feb 22, 2009I didn't say flipping a coin is positive expectency. I said with proper MM, flipping a coin as the signal can still be profitable. Huge difference.

JR97 replied Feb 22, 2009That's actually a good idea. Tell you what, start a thread and I'll trade YOUR system or method and we'll compare accounts at the end of the month. If you're more of a discretionary naked chart type trader then just post where your entry, stop, and ...

JR97 replied Feb 22, 2009Then I didn't make my point clear and I apologize for that. What I meant was that MM has a greater effect on the account than the system itself and that MM can keep a system that is only correct 50% of the time in the black. Do the math.

JR97 replied Feb 22, 2009yeah. it's called math. Risk/Reward. Whatever you want to call it. Do you need proof that 4:1 is better than 2:1. Or better yet, that 1.5:1 is better than 1:1?

JR97 replied Feb 22, 2009There's a million ways to make money in the markets. Hardest part is finding one. But seriously, any system can make money. You can flip a coin and make money if you adhere to sound MM. And that is the key to the mint. Not a bunch of wavy lines. And ...

The Importance of Mental Analysis

JR97 replied Feb 19, 2009I take screen shots of setups, entries, add-ons, and exits. That way I'm not relying on my sh*t memory. EOD or EOTrade, I go over the screenies and evaluate what I did right and what I did wrong. It's also cool to go back over the years and look at ...

JR97 replied Feb 19, 2009Clever. Can I steal that? I'm very interested in the mental aspect since I believe trading is 90% mental and the other 90% psychological. The math part.. not sure about that.

The Importance of Mental Analysis

JR97 replied Feb 19, 2009I still use it to determine which pairs I want to trade. Not only a daily basis anymore, but more like quarterly. But consider this.. it's not just about which horse runs the fastest, it's also which horse runs the furthest. Plus, on this race ...

JR97 replied Feb 19, 2009Hey bob. I"m the same way. I use "time" as an indicator, so I don't worry about setting alerts. I just set my watch. The weakest link in my method is me looking at a chart once I'm in.

JR97 replied Feb 18, 2009giraia_br, OW answered it best. Thanks, bud. My blog(s) goes into plenty of the why and quite a bit of the how. My journal here at ff does as well. It's just one of those things that you either see it or you don't. And if you don't see it, it takes ...
Gann Analysis

JR97 replied Feb 17, 2009I used to do a squeeze play. Through a lot of number running, I'd come up with a swing range. I wouldn't set a hard t/p order, but would trail stops and slowly get it tighter and tighter as price approached my t/p area. Then I'd analyze if a the end ...

JR97 replied Feb 14, 2009Colors of the chart are very important to me. Because I use a lot of geometric patterns, it's important to have things adjusted as to not cause a seizure with all of the stuff I get in a chart. The squares and circle chart below is an example of a ...

JR97 replied Feb 13, 2009My geometric charts aren't difficult at all. It starts with an equilateral triangle within a circle. Then add another triangle creating a Merkaba (Star of David). Then add circles around each line of each triangle. I then extend the triangle lines ...

JR97 replied Feb 12, 2009I don't know. I really didn't give it enough of a chance. It didn't satisfy my criteria of what I needed at the time. It made enough sense and I made a few pips with it for the time I was playing around with it.
