Looks like people are attributing that spike lower to a stop hunt motivated by thin liquidity (bank holiday) and not news.

I don't think this is any delayed reaction. Only two options, news or someone taking advantage of bank holiday to run the stops under 1.3470. I highly doubt that there are any stops there , so it must be news.
