I think the "Long term" successful traders are rare because everyone on earth will some how run out of luck one day. Those successful ones are unusally stop trading before their luck run out.

Another way to the "20 Rule" is "Half Rule". For example, if market swing high-low is 40 pips, then we target to get 20 pips. If it swing 20 pips, then we get 10 pips. We have to leave some money on the table.

This semi-martingale will reduce the number of progression if you let the support/resistance to form first, then enter buy when it break support, or enter sell when it break resistance.
