JeremyWS replied Apr 14, 2012I think it comes from Weighting all the pre-Euro Currencies (mark, pesatas, french francs etc) at the point when they changed to Euros and so you get a fair representation of the value of the EUR. However not really much use to it.
Where does the EUR/USD historical data before 1999 come from?

JeremyWS replied Apr 10, 2012No for last few months all SNB has said is it will defend 1.20 to the death, but if they turned around and said we want 1.25, EURCHF will go to 1.25. They haven't tried it yet as it is seen as a "cheap" "respectable" move.
