Subdude replied May 20, 2008What I find really hard to believe is that there's virtually NO evidence of carry trade unwinding taking place, as one might expect when the Dow takes a triple digit plunge. Financial stocks are being pounded, and yet the high yielders like aussie ...

Subdude replied May 20, 2008Out of all the majors, I believe cable is the most prone to whipsaws, which is what makes it especially dangerous... I generally avoid, but it does look quite overbought right now - perhaps the best thing to do is to stay away for now, indeed.

Subdude replied May 20, 2008This is looking ripe for a 100+ pip correction... I just don't see why one would open a long position after looking at the 5 minute chart here.

Subdude replied May 20, 2008I think that in reality their hands are tied. Guess what happens to the housing market (and the rest of the economy) if the rates stay high for a long time? I read the RBA minutes and my understanding is they won't be raising or lowering the rates ...

Subdude replied May 20, 2008Hmm, in theory - yes. A month ago I could say the same exact things about the euro, and yet buying @ 1.6000 somehow would not have been a good idea.

Subdude replied May 20, 2008It looks like there's still some tailwind here, but resistance is strong, too... 9600 was the R2 pivot, I believe. The dollar looks weak across the board again. My hunch is Wall Street is going to slide in the morning, so that should take some steam ...

Subdude replied May 20, 2008I definitely saw 9602 on the ticker. This was a multi-year high - as in 20+ year high (see earlier posts).

Subdude replied May 20, 2008Whoa, 9600 broken... this is all because of the slightly more hawkish than expected meeting minutes???

Subdude replied May 19, 200810 pips. I actually had a combo of two stop-limits sitting just before the news release... and to my embarassment, I accidentally got the order sides wrong, i.e. I had 2 stop-limits like this: BUY: stop 0.9515 limit 0.9510 SELL: stop 0.9530 limit ...

Subdude replied May 19, 2008My trailing sell stop entry was hit @ 0.9576... normally, I avoid using trailing stops as a way to get in, but AU just seemed way overbought. It looks like it's cooling off a bit here.

Subdude replied May 19, 2008I stand corrected then. Still, for all intents and purposes this is likely as high as most readers of the forum (and retail traders) have seen in their lifetimes. But as Euro's recent downfall shows, tough inflation talk and favorable swap rates ...

Subdude replied May 19, 2008Umm, isn't AU at the all time high right now - 0.9573? Probably not the best time to go short as this might shoot up to the 9650 area tonight. I'm going to find out as I have a trailing 10 pip stop to get in short.

Subdude replied May 15, 2008Where in my posting did you read that? You are putting words in my mouth that I never said. Yes, I do trade real money, and yes - I have been trading for some time. I have no illusions about my trading abilities, and have made bad mistakes from ...

Subdude replied May 15, 2008Look, man - I'm not here to start a war. All I did was break down EXACTLY what you were suggesting, and I know I was right. In your initial post you didn't mention anything about your approach to the entry point, so I wasn't criticizing your ...

Subdude replied May 15, 2008Allow me to be the skeptic here. If I were to trade this example, I would have a combined short position of 300K USD/JPY with avg price of 105.20. Should there be a spike up to 105.55, the entire position becomes a loss, given the stops you're ...

Subdude replied May 15, 2008Be careful with your shorts. The yen has been relatively inert lately, and the movements in this pair are largely attributable to strength or weakness in the dollar. There's also some talk about decoupling of the pair's behavior from the Dow... I do ...

Subdude replied May 14, 2008Potential double-top formation on the hourly. Anyway, it didn't feel quite right, especially with everything going on in my other positions so I closed for some small pip TP.
