Liquidity is pretty low this time of the year, could have something to do with it. Before i give them a bit of a bashing let me just say that their spreads are very competitive (better or than most of the brokers that have threads on here, even ...

I haven't checked the date range of the data, but intervention may be skewing the figures for yen and chf.
Spread vs. Volatility (What pairs come out on top?)
- havaiana replied Nov 24, 2011
If you were talking about obvious highs and lows where orders congregate i could see your point. You really think XX bank gets a large order from a corporate client, or Paul Tudor Jones wants to make a trade and they quickly go check the open of the ...
Illusion of Time(frames)
- havaiana replied Nov 24, 2011
I just look at where price is in relation to the highs and lows of the most recent ranges, the time they occurred does not matter to me that much. I could (in theory) just sit in front of the screen at any point in time though and wait for the ...

I think alot of technical analysis is redundant. What if you had the highs and lows in the order that they ocurred but did not have the time they occurred, would it make much difference?
Illusion of Time(frames)
- havaiana replied Nov 24, 2011
I agree with your post, but in regards to the open, i don't think the open of a candle on any time frame makes a difference. The reference could be price when you sit down at your computer, it doesn't need to be the open of a candle on any timeframe
Illusion of Time(frames)
- havaiana replied Nov 24, 2011
That doesn't make the timeframe of a chart relevant though. If price moves 50 pips on a news event (or for whatever reason) it doesn't matter whether you are looking at a daily chart or a tick chart, price has still moved 50 pips. Open and closes of ...

Also, line charts don't show the full range of price from high to low. More information in a candlestick or bar chart

With the exception of the orderflow threads (particulary posts by darkstar and grkfx) I think you are better off following posters than threads There are a fair few but if i had to name just 5, in addition to the 2 above it would be: crucialpoint ...

I have directional bias, the reason i say that the volatility is more important is because without it, even if my bias is correct it makes it much harder to profit. It also makes my trading alot less efficient. Should probably make the point that I ...

Thanks for the detailed response. I think the prediction of volatility is more important than the prediction of whether price will move up/down and have been using some similar concepts that you have mentioned here (and in other threads). Looking ...

It is possible to distinguish retracements and reversals as they are happening. You will not be right 100% of the time but you can get it right more often than not. Anyone who knows how to do it accurate enough will not give you their edge by ...
How do you distinguish a retracement from a trend reversal?

Looked like a sweep to me. Although some participants have been known to fake intervention before, spooking the market by placing massive bids only to withdraw them as soon as it spikes
Technical Analysis Fallacy
- havaiana replied Nov 21, 2011

I don't use them so can't recommend them, but maybe Oanda is a good place to start. They (as will most likely any broker offering $1,000 lots) by a counter-party. Beggars can't be choosers, the counter-party is an overestimated issue (especially ...

Hi Jim I'm assuming you are not talking about the usual spread widing/ low liquidity that happens with any broker on a real market during news times. Is LMAX worse during these times than any other broker you use/ have used?
