Hey DwainUK, I use a bit more conservative risk and money management parameters and usually brokers’ standard leverage levels work for me just fine.

if you don’t feel comfortable with news trading, my recommendation would be to adopt your trading style and avoid placing trades during such events. As per my personal experience only handful of traders are consistently winning from news trading.
