When you are new to trading you are best off sticking to the slower moving pairs, as Davit always says

I prefer M30 or H1/H4 if I have time to sit and look at my computer, its fast for gathering pips but not too fast but if not then I will trade H4/D1. When I retire I will probably go to the D1/W1

I can only say what I do personally, if trading D1 I look at the weekly tdi, if on H4 I check the D1 and on m30 and H1 I check the H4.
