Craig replied May 23, 2007The MT strategy tester works OK as long as your EA is correctly written & you redownload your data at intervals. There is a post on forex-tsd about how MT tries to 'blend' data together from different sources (why I don't know).

Craig replied May 23, 2007The problem is actually finding a system, not a curve fit. You would be amazed at the ability of backtest optimizers to curve fit years of data, only to have that same system totally fail on forward data. If it was that easy we would all be rich ...

Craig replied May 4, 2007If you are using Metatrader to do the optimization you can also look at the way the results cluster using the graph window. This allows you to see how the results vary as the params vary, big results in isolation are often unstable curve fit results.

Craig replied Mar 9, 2007You can also use limit orders, in this example I would set a sell limit below the trend line, this way you don't have to sit there watching for hours to see what happens. Let the market confirm your analysis.
