Hello, yes you use the same criteria for the daily chart as the hourly chart. Yes, a 100 sma on the hourly chart looks back 100 hourly candles.

No, you trade it how you feel is best and any discussion is welcome but I never close profitable trades and leave half running. It doesn't suit my view of things but I know a lot of people like doing this.

Yes. Although trail 50 pips behind and set it to close the trade if the candle closes the other side of the ma.

I wouldn't move to break even at an arbitrary level, I would let the trailing stop do it's work.

Good point. I think maybe the break of the swing would be best ie the break of the highest price reached recently.

Yes, ok, you are right but I still won't be taking any partial profits.

Rather than just jump in straight away why don't you put a pending order at the top and the bottom of the previous candle and cancel the opposite order when the other one is hit? That way you have some sort of directional bias in your favour.

Why don't I just take the trades for you as well? Or just give you the money?
It would be a nice idea but I just don't have the time anymore to do that.Swing trading with heiken ashi and stochs

I agree, in the long run we will be better trailing the stop behind the 10 ema and when it's a short trend we will break even and when it is a long trend we will bank a fortune. The only thing that concerns me about this is that we are getting into ...

Yes, I don't like the idea of just entering on the first pullback because how many times does it just keep going an invalidates the trend? If testing proves it to be effective I will say I am wrong and adopt the new entry but until then I like ...

I would have wanted a bit more confirmation on that first signal then, not a very convincing turn. You get to be able to read the candles after time and what they are telling you. You get to know what looks right and what looks borderline. By smooth ...

The first one doesn't look like a closed candle. The others look ok except that not all of the pullbacks are very smooth.

Lots of good posts above. Thanks to everyone. Good discussion. So everyone is on the same page here can you clarify your entry method for the tests you have posted above. If I'm right you enter at market at the end of a pullback day? Are there any ...

It's been a while since I did the backtest so I'm not sure exactly what it was but it would have been acceptable or I wouldn't have continued with my theory. You ask a lot of questions about backtesting for someone who backtesting means nothing to

The EA at the start of the thread is flawed. It does not follow the original system rules. Also changes are already being made to target more pips from each trade while keeping the risk as small as possible. When I originally backtested the idea I ...
