Sounds to me like you are catching trends, and then your profit dwindles down during the consolidation phases. Not sure you can fix that without being more aggressive during these times which is risky because you may not know until it blows.

Do you change your expiration dates on your net trades? My broker gives positive swaps for unexpired trades. I set them out three to four weeks just in case price takes it's time, and have even made my trade loss back in the swap fees.
