Bernanke will speak before US open today. It seems to me that every time Bernanke opens his mouth, the dollar goes down. Do you guys think he will have the same effect this time? Then there will be retails sales number to top things off.

It was Mbia, the largest bond insurer, that reported a big loss, somewhat expected. The bond insurance industry has been a sad story for some time now.

It seems to me that every time Trichet speaks, euro goes up. Can anybody think of any occasion where he speaks and the euro goes down lately?

Red news from the UK won't help euro, for sure. But any effect from the news should be quite short lived. The price will go where it wants to go, news or not.
