I don't know if these rules can be made any clearer, I'll also admit I found them hard to understand at first, the real picture of how it works can only come from looking at all the sample charts sterling and others have posted along with these ...

By the way, back on the pics of the Alpari demo spike that took out the stoploss and half the account on post #12. That 120 hard SL was there for complete emergency purposes, I had an EA running on the account to stop out the account at 50 pips ...
Three brokers diffrent spike who's lying?

From my experience testing it is the overall profit of all sells or all buys, so if you're trading $1.00 lots it will close when it hits $10.00 profit total. If you have 5 trades open it will close still close all with just $10.00 overall (10 pips), ...

I don't know if this is the same spike but this occurred on my Alpari UK demo, I had small grid of orders at the top and a 120 pip SL (red line) below- The spike precisely took out the stop ruining the demo I had been doing almost a month. You can ...

I tested this EA a few weeks back, It does not follow the rules and I posted in that thread some things that were wrong with it with pics. Currently, I have not seen an Ea to follow the rules correctly so far, possibly the one Sterling himself is ...

Hi Sterling About the 50% rule again, I understand that we put a stop 50 % back calculated from the maximum amount of profit pips the trade was ever in. But what happens if you have a failed setup bar, the max amount of pips profit you had been in ...

The second chart you posted there was mine, and I had the sell stop placed wrong, sterling corrected me in a later post. candle 1 was the setup bar, Candle 2 was the reversal bar, what happened was candle 2 made that lower low first and then hit the ...

Just different to me in that I hadn't seen the situation yet where the reversal candle made a lower low first then went on to make a higher high than the setup- I was always used to moving stops closer you see rather than further back. It's all ...

Thanks Sterling- Understood, so the stoploss for the reversal order under 2 now will be placed above 2 as well? or will it remain at our buy order currently in market tonirai- You had it right!

Sometimes it seems a shame to sit out of the reversal then if stop is hit before close, as you can miss a big move, but that is the rules and it seems it saves you more than often. If the case of the current trade, where are you putting your SL on ...

Good question, I assume we just left the stop where it is and also put the reversal order there when this current candle finishes, Sterling please confirm what would happen here?

- viperzz replied Nov 13, 2008
Yes this is because you have a setup bar, say a setup for a long/buy trade it is past the low ema, you put the buy stop above it when closed, if the next bar then makes a lower low past the previous setup and closes without hitting your buy, the ...

We are looking at the last bar that closed, at any stage of it's formation it has to have at least penetrated the one EMA by 5 pips, it can even close back inside just as long at some point during it's 4 hours ( we are using 4H candles) it past it. ...

Hey Howard, See Sterlings post here url about what happened when we closed on Friday, I think he explained it well there. The bar we closed out on Friday was actually a setup bar to go long, so when the market opened and gapped above it we ...
