How long can I use compounding?
- DrRock replied Jan 18, 2006
John, The interest that you earn wouldn't even pay for the spread. It takes about 1 day of interest to pay 1 pip. The spread is 4-8 pips depending on your broker so it won't work. Simon

Changing the rules is the job of the system developer not the trader. To change the rules, the system developer needs to make the modifications to the code and then pass the new system to the system analyser who then determines if the system is ...

Zazzy, Great question - I am a trader not a programmer :-). I have been using FXCM but am now moving towards Oanda because of their greater flexibility and their API. I already have a managed account with Oanda being traded via an API and will soon ...

John, If you are predicting that price will go to a certain level then you might want to investigate the Oanda Option price boxes. You may be able to make more money with less risk using option boxes. I am not too familiar with them but oyu may find ...

This is a very important point I think. If you are a system trader and you make money as a result of deviating from your system, then you have done your job and have put in a poor performance. You can't control the outcome of a trade, all you can do ...

How does offering an opinion on FXCM promote an un-named introducing broker? I did say that I have several FXCM accounts in my follow up post. I have been trading with FXCM for about 2 year now. Simon

Stock market isn't a zero sum game either - the futures and options markets are the only zero sum games (when you take spread and brokerage into account, they are actually a negative sum game). Simon

Personally, I would say that you would be completely wasting your time trading 1000 Euros and only making 2% per month - that is probably around 27% PA. You would only pay yourself 270 Euros for a year's worth of work - I am sure most people could ...

Yep, you are going overboard. I wasn't giving an endorsement to FXCM, merely agreeing with Merlin's views about conspiracy theory and complaining about brokers hitting stops etc. I personally reckon that it is all crap! Mainly endorsing the ...

My personal opinion is that most of the trading systems that people are using don't actually work. If you were to do a backtest on them you would probably find that they had quite bad results. This is true also for many of the so called 'classic ...

This is assuming that the FX market is a zero sum game which it is not! The only zero sum games are ones that start at zero and finish at zero - that is they must expire at some point like futures and options. FX doesn't expire so isn't zero sum. ...
