FXCM's DAX spread on MT4 earlier this morning. In case it's not obvious, the orange bars indicate max/min spread over a one minute period. The red line is the average spread. Looks like I did well to only get slipped 12 on a stop entry!

You're starting to speak my language now. "Backtests"! Might I enquire how you set about backtesting DAX "scalp trades"? Jim

Welcome back D1! How long do such suspensions usually last around here?

Thanks Ata. Doing my due diligence reveals this apparently occurred on another thread. Not that my opinion counts for much, but as far as I can see GlobalMacro was in fact the best candidate for suspension. Seasons greetings to one and all! Jim

Most intriguing. Having just returned to FF after a long absence I have to say that I have been thoroughly enjoying D1's words of wisdom. Can any "Senior member" explain the reason for his "Temporary suspension" to me?

Hi Ian, Not exactly. As others have suggested it's possible to update a MetaTrader style "built-in" stop/target using undocumented features of the "XML API". However you end up with a brand new order number to keep track of, which rather suggests ...

Hi Ian, Yes, I have tried it, and even used it anger. (Custom Java API!) I've used that sort of thing in anger too, and without resorting to FIX, but it's rather messy. I haven't delved into the depths of "position in queue" issues as yet for ...

Actually LMAX can be persuaded to support "native stop orders" via an API, but you have to get down to the bare metal to do it. Of course there is still slippage to contend with! Jim

Good morning 666, I received the following email message from Armada last week: I received similar advice from a very long list of other brokers. Did you receive such an email from any of your brokers? If so why did you ignore that advice? Cheers, ...

@Jack - Quite so. @Aeiou - Thanks in part to your brevity and innovative use of punctuation I'm not clear exactly what you are saying. Is it: 1. "An account with LMAX is better than membership of the CME" 2. "An account with LMAX is as good as ...

Hi Aeiou, My understanding is that LMAX is indeed a "broker", in part at least: url There are a long list of other brokers who will be more than happy to let you trade CME currency futures after depositing less than 100k, or even less than 10k!?! ...

@Traderji - Yes and yes. I use the generic MultiCharts, not the LMAX specific version. I had some problems in v7 displaying daily bars. MC assure me it's fixed in v8.0 beta 2, although I haven't tested it personally yet. @LFN - Yes. Try ...

Hi Cocoflanel, You mean how do you navigate around myfxbook? If so, you need to click on the "History" tab near the bottom. Ray's a stupidly simple "robot". He aims for a 50 pip target, whilst hoping to avoid his 10 pip stops being hit. P.S. On ...

Hi Rooicol, Your experience seems to be slightly different to Ray Robot II's. See: url for his live trading results. Ray trades using pending orders only, and as you can see his worst case slippage on a stop was 6.2 pips. Cheers, Jim

Hi JFK, No. Whilst it now seems to be possible to enter "microlot" orders with vaguely sensible commissions via the alternative routes, Multicharts doesn't understand the concept of fractional size. The only way around it I can suggest is to go down ...

Hi Ian, As you suspect, Armada as well as LMAX themselves currently use slightly grey versions of PrimeXM "white label" MT4. Certainly a trifle shoddy, but not particularly sinister. It seems LMAX liquidity is also being made available via the ...
