I have a neat little formula that plots the moon cycle in Metastock. It can even be adjusted to your time zone (this can be important as, for example, it is Saturday here when it is Friday elsewhere). I guess I could just look outside (it is usually ...

Which contract month is that? I have looked at Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar, and no joy. In fact, the further out ones are pushing newish lows. I too like charts.

Re the 1495 level in XAUUSD - that has been there since the 1 October low. Flip ya Fib retracement levels upside down. 38.2%. The 3 October high was 61.8%. The 23.6% has been providing support recently.

Yeah. We use them for different purposes, though - for me, a measure of "noise" in the denominator or whatever, which is an average, in any metric I am calculating. (OHLC) of 20, 25,15, 18 has is 18 (5+10+3) of movement, compared to,say, H-L of 10. ...

Don - I have been meaning to respond to your recent elucidation of what is behind the pretty colours on your charts, for which I am most grateful. I think I understand, and I look forward to more so I can comment in a manner that won't embarrass ...

I like to watch where things open on Mondays. But usually at "extremes" - not so much when in consolidation. A technical/psychological thing (as are most things, if I may be so bold).

Thankyou for that. Here I was thinking they might have been little looney tune characters. I'm sure it is quite valuable information. I'd want to apply some maths to it, being me, rather than eyeballing. I've seen those market profile thingys and ...

I love your colourful charts. I have no idea what they mean but shhh don't tell anyone. I shall buy Dec if clear close above yesterdays high of 2.527. I avoid trading the near month (now Nov), if possible. Can be distorted and provide false signals.

Yeah, thanks - I have read the article three times now and found it to be very imprecise for something that purports to be an empirical study. Only two short sentences were devoted to crude oil being in a contango. Cash prices ought be used to keep ...

Thanks for that - I have due respect for COT when it registers extreme short levels amongst the specs (green line), like about 200,000 in NG like it did in August - then, I watch my technical things a bit more closely for a buy. Just increases the ...

I find that article deficient in so many respects. So I looked up the author's bio and he has an undergrad degree in economics from a liberal arts college..

Thankyou, you are too kind. I do take notice of the news, can't help it - like that NG storage picture on the previous page was most interesting and "explains" things - but it does not affect my trading. I have post-grad qualifications in economics ...

I think we'll have to agree to disagree - as I write, a few cents? The days trading range is about average, so far. Might be more yet to come after people have time to scratch their heads a bit and other stuff that people do over the next day or so. ...

This was, I think, anticipated, and well known, and therefore already built into the price. The 1 B difference from expectations is of little or no consequence in the scheme of things. Yet another reason why I don't pay much attention to day to day ...

I wasn't trading Nat Gas at the time, but there is nothing in the charts from around Sep 2018 and after to suggest it would have been prudent to be naked short NG. There is little to suggest it would be a good idea to be long NG at the moment. This, ...
