It is a form of progressive stake sizing though not in the exact martingale format.

That's why I recommended that he limits the cost of his 4steps to no more than 5%, then only will we be able to see his system perform within prudent risk management. Remember also that he achieved a 100+% gain last week.

That's true backtesting martingale ea is only to check the ea is functioning properly. Backtest results for martingale eas is a useless waste of time.

That's true, unlimited steps martingale will not work no matter how large the account even if you start with 0.01 lot size.

I don't wish to debate on the effectiveness of progressive stake size as a money management system. But I do agree that scammers use martingale to hide their losses.

Yup that's correct. Martingale is a money management strategy applied on systems with positive expectancy. When applied to systems with negative expectancy it enhances the loss and quickens the demise of the account.

Martingale works with limited number of steps and the total cost of each martingale cycle is a small fraction of the account. Unlimited steps which requires infinite account size is fools fantasy.
