Spikehunter replied May 7, 2009SL — I also use a trailing stop based on the DMI. In a falling price, lower highs the DMI is a good way of determining wher to put the SL. It has worked well in the past. If you use the 15m chart it may help reduce the potential losses.

Spikehunter replied May 7, 2009Forgive me if my maths are incorrect but surely if SL is 1.68 and TP is 100 then potential profit will always be less than the potential loss. I have manually backtested this method , not to far back, and for what its worth and it nearly always gets ...

Spikehunter replied Apr 29, 2009If it's a method that works well then why would you want to test it? Just curious. I have looked at instances of 4 IB's and ther does seem to be a good result. How quickly does it have to breakout and where is the SL, the other side of the ...

Spikehunter replied Apr 28, 2009Thats a very interesting indcator, very complex maths in it. I have used a combination of BB/MA with MACD and DMI to try to give a definitive trend direction /strength. When writing EA's its very hard to get the trend cals right but this does seem ...

Spikehunter replied Apr 22, 2009Ruels definition — Hi everyone, I don't post to often. This has caught my attention and I have read the first several pages and quite a few more recent ones. I usually use 15m charts but can't sit at a screen all day. I like this idea as a way ...

Spikehunter replied Feb 8, 2009No problem with any of that. as has been said many time one must do what one must do. There is an interesting book called "Swing Trading" by Marc Rivalland which has many of the tenets you propose and which at the time I thought was a great read. No ...

Spikehunter replied Feb 7, 2009I am pleased to see I wasn't run out of the forum for my views :-) The only thing I would say about 50% retracement from my observations is that with the theory, yes theory, of higher highs/lows and reverse is that with a long trend the previous low ...

Spikehunter replied Feb 7, 2009Hi Everyone, First I will admit to not reading the whole of this thread as to be honest I finfd that most of the entries, in any thread, don't give much value. I will however say that this is a technique that I have looked at several times, what ...

Spikehunter replied Jun 13, 2008Hi, I don't remeber anythingthat mentions that comparison of todays opening and yesterdays close. All I have seen is that the current price should be above, for a buy, below , for a sell, versus todays opening. Peter Crowns does mention momentum but ...
