I had 4 trades during the NY session and I am -6 net. Not a big loss for 4 trades but not inspiring either. I sometimes wish I would trade the Asian, it may be less exciting but maybe better on the nerves.

fractals — Yeah, I found that they made for a cleaner chart than Barry's S/R. A good visual tool without clutter. p

Interesting question. On another forum there is a thread called "EMA Step System" or something like that; the author uses the 30M, 15M, & 5M TFs. After entering on the 5M & it goes in the right direction, he moves up to the 15M, adjusts TP &SL and ...

I use 7 because for the 1H & 4H I just need the most recent info. Put the same pr on two charts side by side, 1H & 4H, and measure the ATR and see how they look. I only use ATR for SL or TP if I don't like the latest swing high or low.

I used to use Barry Stander's Support & Resistance indicator (Google for it) but now I use mt4's fractals indicator so when I see a few in the same area I have an idea where price may stop, lag, break through, or reverse. Think of s/r zones - ...

I bought the E/gbp on the 4H TF, 11:15gmt, and it is doing ok. I got in at .8769 and now have my SL at BE+2. My TP is .8797, just short of a resistance zone of .8805 but I'm afraid of the BRN of .8800 so a shorter profit based on the ATR is fine ...

I really agree with the "additional indicators" bit. Not needed. I followed the rules exactly this a.m. and got +66 pips with 4 trades and ranging from the 15M to 1H TFs. Read post #1 and the pdf. p

I guess I am the contrarian trader as I usually trade the 1H and I look at the 15 & 5M TFs for confirmation. I think a cross indicates a trend reversal or a pullback or possibly a break of S/R which the 4H mostly will not show. I am sure there will ...

If ever there has been a strategy that would make me get up in the middle of the night to trade, it's this one. I have known for 4 years that London is the forex king (or Queen E. in this case) and when I see the London success that some traders ...

Amen to that. I could hardly wait for 5pm Sunday when I could start the Asian session, and the Asian started emptying my acct. So like you I'm up around 5:30-6:00 and checking the news and calendar and waiting for the 7am 4H candle. A lot less ...

I have tried for a very long time to find a strategy that would allow me to trade just the NY session at US central time. Plus only trading the e/u, y/u, gbp/u, chf/u, cad/u, a/u, & e/gbp. I had never done well, not even break even, with the Asian ...

FXTrader - I have a question regarding checking out lower TFs; if I see a setup on the 4H should I drop down to the 1H for confirmation or go even lower? My 7am cst 4H tf shows 2 or 3 crosses but sometimes they go nowhere and I am out with a small ...

fundamentals are important too! — This morning at 07:00, 4H TF, I saw a perfect setup for the gbp/usd although it was the 2nd candle and against the D, 4H, & 1H trend. But British mfg had a dismal report plus a deal on the US debt seem ...

I do it the other way around - if there isn't a tdi cross first then I move to another pair. If there is a cross then I do more analyzing, trend,TP & SL potential, big numbers, S/R etc (not necessarliy in that order.)

Thanks, i needed that! I have been in negative territory this whole month by mostly trading 1H and shorter TFs. After reading your post last night I pulled up the 07:00 cdt 4H charts this morning and bought the $/Y for +23p; sold the gbp/$ for +16p ...
