stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008Ok if your using Alpari charts your long and have a sell stop order at 1.5270. If you are using the other charts you are currently short. No rick of missing a trade on either of them, its just one is going to take a loss before getting in the right ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008It dosent have to have a lower high. We just want to know that the maket may be turning around and this is signified by the market not making lower lows. Also in this case spread dosent play a part. Most charts go off the bid and there for if the ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008When you first enter a trade you have the order to enter and the stop loss, thats it. So if you get a order triggered and it gets stopped out in the same bar then you are no longer in the market and you wait for a setup bar to occur before you enter ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008In the case of a long: When price is below lower 5 EMA you are looking for longs only. Inverse for a short. So when the setup bar closes you place your buy stop 5 pips + the spread above the setup bars high and the stop 5 pips below the low. You do ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008If your using alpari charts your not stopped out and your still long. I think you were refering to the chart on post #551 tho. In that case the last bar on that chart is a setup bar to go short right? So you have the stop for the long trade 5 pips ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008I think the rule you werent applying correctly is that after the setup bar price has 2 reversal bars to make a trade. Then if the trade would have failed to trigger the third bar could be the new setup bar if it breaks one of the EMA's. -Sterling

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008Yeah those candle closes definatly made a better trade on this one. On the big move down I believe your candle got triggered for a buy and stopped out and reversed which made the profit a little less, but it definatly made up for it here. All in all ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008No, it can generate any time frame chart but the start of candles is dependent on the broker's servers. The only way to change bars' start and close is to change broker.[/quote] Hey howard thanks for the indicator...im interested in trying 8 hour ...

stersuhr replied Oct 27, 2008I have no problem getting up just for 5 min, that's all it takes. I am looking into 8 hr charts though, but don't have the time to manually research it. I suspect they may be more profitable, and hope that when a EA comes out that someone with the ...

stersuhr replied Oct 26, 2008You got it right on the buy limit order. The first bar of the week was a setup bar to go long. As for an entry to go short there isnt one. We exited the trade on Friday because of the 50% retracement rule and we have to wait for a proper entry. ...

stersuhr replied Oct 26, 2008Yes the new low is the new setup bar and you put the buy stop 5 pips plus spread above the high and the stop 5 pips below the low like a usual trade. Hope this clears things up. -Sterling

stersuhr replied Oct 26, 2008When price in the case of a long makes a lower low and triggers the trade you move the stop below the new low. You have no choice about it being triggered so you just move the stop to the new low and continue with the system as usual. When I was ...

stersuhr replied Oct 26, 2008Hey thanks for backtest it. I appreciate the effort your putting into it. I do have one question tho, what do you mean by a "few judgement calls". Wiuth this system there should be no judgement calls. As far as how I backtest lets use a buy example. ...
