From chief UK negotiator David Frost: Disappointed by the #EUCO conclusions on UK/EU negotiations. Surprised EU is no longer committed to working "intensively" to reach a future partnership as agreed with @vonderleyen on 3 October. Also surprised by ...

Honestly, after today's summit, I think Boris will walk away from the talks (at least temporarily), or make some other dramatic move. He really won't be pleased with this outcome: url Some more colour from Guardian: url I rarely give advise, but ...

Today's movement is not GBP-specific, it is a general risk off move; stocks and bond yields are falling, dollar and yen up, risk currencies down. Lockdowns over Europe contribute to it of course, among other factors.

Today is a first proper risk off day in a long time. Let's see if bears can keep it up, or will succumb to bullish reversal later on. In any case, if risk off really returns, we have a _very_ long way to fall from where we are.

A lot of people here were saying yesterday that "bulls have not even started". I now understand that they meant USD bulls.
And yes, they are slowly waking up (summer hibernation, new word in biology).Cable Update (GBPUSD)

Interesting that this only the first part made it to the headline. Well, pound needed a lift, and some big guys probably needed to sell higher. As I said yesterday, the decision is likely to be taken over the weekend. A strong GBP buy into the ...

Your chart is as usual very simple and beautiful. I would not dare arguing with you from a technical perspective, but fundamentals are incredibly bad for pound right now (Brexit crunch time, unemployment, coronavirus => lockdown, negative rate ...

I entered short at 1.3067 yesterday with 10 pip SL. If it were 15 pips, the trade would still be alive. With regards to the move, it may of course be a deep retrace to shake off buyers before a big move up. But I guess it is a bit more logical to ...

That's exactly what I said in the post earlier, this move is not Brexit, it's dollar / risk aversion. Brexit may come later in the week.

If it happens, may also be over the weekend. Boris may wait for EU summit to make a statement and in any case will need to summon the Cabinet before making tsuch a decision.

This move is about dollar strength / risk aversion. With earnings season, there may be more of that. Brexit move has not yet started, but it probably will in a few days. Market is almost 100% certain talks will drag on... well, maybe so (I would ...

A lot of people are understandably bullish, but I still have my doubts. Markets expected US stimulus sooner rather than later, and once again talks are stalled. It looks as if both sides are incentivised to continue talks (so that not to be blamed ...

I decided to play long game this week, shorted at 1.2973 on Monday and will hold to this position unless we clearly break 1.3. The case for USD strength is very much there: big US stimulus did not materialise, and piecemeal chunks will be much ...

A lot of people wrote here about how bullish the price action is. Well, it was bullish exactly because of US stimulus hopes. With no stimulus, stocks are going to crash, and USD will rise immensely. Don't try to sell USD now, it will be a massacre. ...
