Your stop loss is a function of the amount you want to risk and your position size. The 10 pip stop loss is a general rule of thumb.

1) Triggers? Risk management is not a function of chart triggers. 2) Open a smaller timeframe? What's the point? Price is the same no matter what time frame you use. Cheers!
