Looking for JAVA programmer for Jforex strategy
- Intensity replied Apr 3, 2010
Wow it looks really interesting thanks a lot ! I'm not a programmer and I've struggled with FxSpyder to do things that AmiBroker seems to do naturally... haha I'm almost ashamed. Have you used it personally ?

Oanda's quick pricing
- Intensity replied Apr 3, 2010
FXSpyder tends to lag when I close an order (takes time to refresh the account & trade data) but otherwise it works fine when I trade on my 10 seconds charts, which is the only place where I can do that. If you know of another broker/platform who ...

Good Lord.... I'm just saying that R:R + Strike Ratio aren't sufficient to determine if a system is profitable or not because factors like money management aren't included. I feel like I'm talking to people who never traded or never backtested a ...

I understand, but R:R doesn't mean anything if you don't have a max value. The R:R can be 1:1, but if it means it's as likely to lose 100% or gain 100% it's a useless system. Same conclusion : you need more data than 70% 1:1 RR.

No, I said 2 50% loss in a row. a 75% loss. That's being almost wiped out.

Exactly, but if the risk:reward = 50%, 2 losses in a row and you're almost wiped out. I'll say it again : 70% strike rate and 1:1 RR isn't enough info.

- Intensity replied Apr 3, 2010
The 70% strike rate doesn't mean anything if you don't know what you are striking (% or pip gain) or how often. You can have a 100% strike rate but it doesn't mean anything. 100% strike rate, on a 1 year period for a 2 pip gain with a 1:1 leverage ...

The other poster never made such an assumption, and neither did the poster of the 1:1 70% system.

The frequency of the trade is important but so is the relative profit. the "1 win : 1 loss ratio" could be a 0.005% gain or a 150 % gain. In this latter case, you lose one time and it's over.

Is that question directed to me ? If it was, that's just the point of my remark to sloanman. A system "1:1 RR at 70% win rate" isn't enough info to make an assumption on the future performance...

That's just wrong. You should quit trading if you can't do basic maths.
