Of course there are strategies that work only on specific time frames. Various scalping strategies are a proof of that, usually people don't apply them to the large time frames.

I learned from books, more or less. I had other sources of information and knowledge too, but I think I would have been a worse trader than I am now if I hadn't studied trading from various books.

I agree about both. I did not improve until I figured out what my winning strategy was. After that it was a matter of practice.

Something else I learned that made a lot of difference - that I should trade when there is an open trading session. In my case those are London and NY. I avoid trading when all sessions are closed.

What made all the difference was finally learning not to be greedy and to close my positions on time when I saw that there was about to be a reversal, rather than stubbornly keep them open.

Generally speaking, the longer I intend to keep a position, the smaller that position is. I usually prefer short term larger positions than long term small ones.
