Histogram Indicator Question

Hi Evan, Thanks very much for that. Could you help with a brief explanation of what i++ does for me and what it is doing in the above code? I understand it is adding 1 to itself and so on, but I'm a bit fuzzy with that. Thanks John
Histogram Indicator Question

Could someone please give me a quick idea how you stuff data into an array? I've been thru the MT4 help but it's too cryptic for me in this regard. Basically I have 20 values I want to average. I'm using some other math to create these values so I ...
Histogram Indicator Question

I also should point out, as someone else had before, that 2 lines on a graph, with one being above the other, do not accurately show which pair to short and which to long.

Lawrence, the reason you lost large may be that you went long/short the wrong way round. If, for the sake of argument, Pair 1 had moved down 100 pips since open, and Pair 2 had only moved down 25 pips, then you need to go long on Pair 1 and short on ...

No I haven't posted it yet. I don't want to clutter things up posting half assed code. I'm still tweaking and testing. No idea if/when it will ever be ready for prime time, but when I'm happy that it is working well I will post it. Honestly though, ...

I've built an indicator based on the info in Pairs.xls and the accompanying PDF file. When normalized price difference reaches one side of the range or the other, you know (or you can at least be pretty sure) that the difference will now go the ...

Hi Lawrence, To reply to your post #287; The way price is moving doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is the difference between the prices. Timeframe doesn't matter either for that matter. I strongly suggest people read the "Correlation ...

I'm working on something. I believe the correlation indicators Swingman wrote are based on the same formulas, however I haven't been able to trade with them...not because they are not useful, but just because they don't work for me. So I'm ...

Thanks for this Andrew. Very interesting. Essentially what I'm (attempting to)implement, except I couldn't manage the fancy maths
Now I can see and understand the formulas in you Excel sheet, which is going to be very helpful. All the best JohnHedge and Correlation Strategy

I suppose for the sake of argument one could do the same calculation just buying GBPUSD at the same times to see what the difference is. Also as you suggest, GBPEUR...

Yes the difference between the two pairs is generally going to be constantly getting bigger or smaller on the long term, so if you hold a trade for weeks, you will either seriously make money, or seriously lose it. That's why I think the key part of ...

Hi Dreamliner, Yes if those are your numbers then it should be +82 not -82. I thought I had that fixed. I'll have to take another look at it tonite.

Sorry decypher, thought you were talking to me. You're right, we don't *know* that it will return to zero, but it does more often than not. Last night it went from +22 to -79. Currently at -62. So, my plan is to watch it and gather data, and build a ...

Why would you only see 2 parralell lines? The price of one pair is not moving exactly with the price of the other pair, hence the varying spread value. This histogram shows you exactly the variation between the two pairs. If you buy one pair and ...

Oops. Theres a problem with the date entry criteria. You can set the date in the mq4 file for now. I've rest it to today's 00:00 (FXDD). Will try to post a fix shortly, but you can test with this one for now.

Hi, More bars *should* pertain to the amount of bars on the histogram that will be visible. So, if set to one, you will only ever see one bar. Set to 20, you'll get 20 bars, and then they'll pop off the chart as new ones come one. Or maybe none of ...
